Human Rights Statement

Overview

Kakao Games is committed to creating and sharing sustainable value through games that everyone can enjoy together. Guided by a people-centered philosophy, we promote mutual respect and inclusive growth across all aspects of our business. Our responsibility to uphold human rights extends beyond our internal teams to encompass users, investors, shareholders, partners, and local communities. We fully support the international human rights principles outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration. We are also committed to complying with domestic legislation that reflects these principles. In the course of operating our game services, we are dedicated to preventing and eliminating any potential risks of human rights violations. If any such issues arise, we will respond quickly and work diligently to address their causes.

Basic Principles

We protect and respect the human rights of all stakeholders affected by our business operations. The scope of our human rights commitment extends beyond those guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of South Korea to include the rights recognized under international human rights law and global human rights norms. We also acknowledge that certain rights, though not explicitly defined in legal frameworks, deserve equal respect as fundamental human rights and are committed to upholding them.

1. Prohibition of Discrimination and Embrace of Diversity

We do not tolerate any form of discrimination in employment, promotion, training, compensation, or benefits based on gender, faith, religion, physical condition, age, social status, race, ethnicity, nationality, place of origin, educational background, alma mater, marital or pregnancy status, military history, disability, gender identity, family status, political orientation, or union membership. We are dedicated to fostering an organizational culture that respects diversity, equity, and inclusion.

2. Freedom of Association and Protection of Three Labor Rights

We fully comply with the Constitution and labor laws, which form the foundation of our human rights policies. We respect and uphold our Krew's rights to freedom of association and the three core labor rights (the right to organize, the right to collective bargaining, and the right to collective action). No employees are subject to unfair treatment for exercising these rights guaranteed under the Constitution and relevant labor legislation.

3. Prohibition of Forced Labor and Child Labor

We do not employ forced laborers, individuals under bonded labor (including debt bondage), involuntary prison laborers, or victims of human trafficking. We do not compel any employee to work against their free will through violence, threats, confinement, human trafficking, or any other means that unduly restrict mental or physical freedom.

We strictly prohibit the employment of children and minors as a fundamental principle. We comply with national labor laws and international standards regarding the minimum age for employment and working conditions in all countries where we operate.

4. Prohibition of Workplace Bullying and Sexual Harassment

We respect all employees and partners as individuals deserving of dignity. Accordingly, we strictly prohibit any form of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct that may cause humiliation or discomfort. We also do not tolerate any form of workplace bullying that inflicts physical or psychological harm through abuse of authority or hierarchical relationships.

5. Assurance of Safety and Health

We also maintain a respectful work environment that embraces cultural diversity. We are committed to providing fair employment conditions that enable our employees (Krews) to lead lives of dignity and offering appropriate compensation, training opportunities while upholding rights to rest, leisure, and regulated working hours in accordance with laws, and avoiding or reducing overtime.

We ensure that all our employees (Krews) work in a safe and healthy environment by complying with relevant regulations and internal standards. We maintain dedicated systems for safety management and emergency response, continuously working to reduce risks and promote a culture of safety while any identified hazards are addressed appropriately.

6. Responsible Supply Chain Management

We ensure that our partners uphold their human rights responsibilities. When human rights issues arise within our supply chain, we engage with various stakeholders to understand diverse perspectives and pursue meaningful, practical solutions.

7. Protection of Human Rights in Local Communities

We manage our business operations in a manner that ensures the human rights of local residents, such as their right to a safe and healthy environment and the freedom to reside peacefully, are not infringed. We gather community feedback in accordance with laws and respect the autonomy and traditional values of local communities.

8. Protection of User Rights

We comply with all applicable laws to ensure that our game services do not harm the life, health, or safety of users and that services are accessible and convenient.

To protect user privacy, we collect and retain only the minimum amount of personal information as required by law and implement measures to prevent any unauthorized disclosure.

We do not share users' personal information with third parties without their consent.

We respect users' freedom of expression. However, we may take appropriate action, in accordance with legal procedures, against content or information that violates laws or societal norms.

9. Protection of Environmental Rights

We recognize climate change as a critical environmental, economic, and social challenge, and we view environmental protection as an integral part of human rights. In this context, we comply with all relevant regulations, assess the environmental impact of our operations, and set targets for improvement while protecting and restoring the environment.

10. Fulfilling Digital Responsibilities

We are committed to building a society where all members can grow together and share a better future while considering solutions to current and emerging social issues.

We ensure that our game services are inclusive and help prevent marginalization and discrimination in the digital space.

We make every effort to guarantee equal access to our services for all members of society.

Scope of Application

This Human Rights Management Declaration applies not only to our organization but also to our domestic and international affiliates and their members. We also encourage our partners and users of our services to understand and uphold the principles of human rights that we promote. In cases where the provisions of this declaration may conflict with the laws and regulations of countries where our services are offered, we will respect local regulations while ensuring that our actions remain aligned with internationally recognized human rights principles.

Human Rights Risk Due Diligence Process

We identify human rights-related risks and implements measures to mitigate them. Our human rights due diligence process is carried out in the following steps:

Define the scope and conduct a human rights impact assessment

Identify key human rights risks and analyze their causes and potential impacts

Establish and implement mitigation measures for identified risks

Communicate actions company-wide and continuously monitor progress and outcomes through reporting

This process is led by our HR Support Group and is designed to proactively prevent human rights risks through regular risk identification, assessment, and monitoring. We are also working to enhance the due diligence process to ensure more effective risk management.

Risk Management and Relief Procedures for Human Rights Violations

We operate reporting channels that allow our employees, partners, and users to report concerns related to human rights violations. Upon receiving a report, we forward it to the appropriate department based on the nature of the issue and work quickly through internal procedures to identify effective resolutions. To ensure a safe and trusted reporting environment, we protect the confidentiality of both the report and the identity of the whistleblower, and we take all necessary measures to prevent any form of retaliation or disadvantage resulting from the report.
